Cats & kittens

Rehoming list

Hounslow Animal Welfare Society has placed a temporary stop on accepting applications for the adoption of cats and kittens as we have a huge number of applications still to process, and we wish to review those before accepting more. Visit this page for more details.

All cats are vaccinated and neutered as soon as they are old enough. They will also receive flea/worm treatments before going to their new home.

An up-to-date list of cats and kittens looking for a new home can be found below.

Whisper (F) HC3212

Age: 6 years

This litte female was part of a stray colony and our intention was to neuter and put her back but after a couple of days at the vets they realised she isn't feral just a little timid but friendly so it wouldn't be right to put her back.

The vet nurses called her Whisper as she's very quiet.  She will probably need a quiet adult only home where she can flourish and ideally to be homed with her friend Belle who is in the same foster home.

Whisper has been vaccinated, neutered and micro-chipped.

Myrtle (F) HC3232

Age: 6 years

Myrtle's story
Well we started in our own commune, we had lots of babies and eventually there were too many of us.  That's when HAWS came along and collected us in small groups.  Myrtle (that's me) and Beauty went first and had our kittens, the kittens have all been adopted as they were all cute.  Beauty was adopted and that left me - I was lonely and miserable, one day Nicola who looked after me and my five kittens moved me and  I met up with five of my cousins or they may possibly be my brothers and sister I really can't remember.  One thing about us is we are all shy and nervous but we do love dinner and treat time, at night we move our beds around the room to confuse Nicola in the morning.  We are all black except Mog who is black and white, the rest of us do have little white hidden markings, mine Is on my  tum.  Let me introduce you there is Little one she is small and cute, we have William he is the biggest, Munro who is the middle one and Midge!  Myself and Little One are the ladies the rest are gents!!  I can't tell you how long it took me to get everybody in one place and to make them sit still for a photo !!!

Belle (F) HC3244

Age: 6 years

Florence (F) HC4424

Age: 2 years

Florence is a short haired calico tortie girl who was discovered stray and living under a shed.

She likes to do her own thing and loves the garden.   She is not a lap cat or one that seeks attention or affection so probably won't suit a family with children.  She is calm and not spooked by anything such as the vacuum cleaner.       Florence needs a home where she can be her independent self and where you won't mind if she is somewhat aloof.

She is vaccinated, neutered and micro-chipped and ready for her new home.

Mog (F) HC4437

Age: 11 months
Mog is related to Sparkle
Must be homed with Sparkle

Mog and Sparkle were born outside to a feral mother, they have made progress in their foster home. This is what they say about them

Sparkle is very friendly and will sit on the sofa with us.  She is very outgoing and will make a lovely companion.  Mog is very much an independent cat but will follow Sparkle so I think she will be fine, but someone will have to be patient  with her until they have gained her trust.  She won't be picked up but I can touch her.

They are great fun and will be a lovely pair for the right person. Probably best in a quieter adult home.

They are both fully vaccinated and have been micro-chipped and spayed.

MOG AND SPARKLE MUST BE HOMED TOGETHER.

Luna (F) HC4467

Age: 3 years

"My name is Luna and I’m a gorgeous 3 year old girl with a luxuriously soft and thick black coat that you want to pet for days.

As I haven’t had the best of luck with my previous humans I do have trust issues and it takes me a bit of time to settle down in a new place and get used to people. I don’t get on well with other pets or children as they scare me. I really just need my vey own loving and patient hooman who’s willing to give me the time, space and care I need to build up my confidence and trust.

I’ve been with my foster momma for 3 months and although I’m still not confident enough to ask for cuddles I do let her pick me up and pet me for a while cause I know she likes it so much. I kinda like it too but don’t tell her that or she’ll be doing it all the time! I’m a cat after all and have a reputation to maintain!! I’m very independent and adventurous so a kitty door and safe access to outside is essential "

Luna is neutered and up to date with her vaccinatons.  She also has a pet passport as she's been to Spain before.

Skippy (F) HC4486

Age: 13 months
Must be homed with Hopper

We probably should have called Skippy Juliet and her boyfriend Hopper Romeo.  They came into our care separately and Skippy had been living outside longer than Hopper  Hopper was the most confident and because Skippy was very timid we thought that putting them together would help her.   This has worked well and Skippy loves to play with Oscar and can match his energy. They love each other and Skippy follows Hopper everywhere.  Skippy still remains a litte wary of humans (unless food is involved) but her confidence has increased dramatically in foster care.

We couldn't bear to part them so Skippy and Hopper must be homed together.  Skippy is the one at the back of the photo.

Skippy is fully vaccinated and micro-chipped

Skippy and Hoper would suit a home with enough space for them to retreat to for naps and would enjoy a secure garden to explore and play in.

Please don't apply to adopt them if you are outside our catchment area or don't have access to a garden

Joan Jet (F) HC4510

Age: 8 months

Joan Jett is a bit timid.  She looks at you as if she wants to be friends but isn't quite ready.  She will let you stroke her and pick her up, but only when she is feeling relaxed.  She would be better with experienced cat owners as she will require a little patience.   She gets on with the other cats so wouild make a nice companion for a resident cat who wants a new friend.

Joan Jett is fully vaccinated and microchipped.

Update from foster home:- Joan Jet is gentle and sweet.  She’s quietly confident and affectionate, but has a sense of adventure.  She would suit any household and would be a nice companion for a resident cat who wants a new friend.

PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF YOU ARE OUTSIDE OUR CATCHMENT AREA OR DON'T HAVE A GARDEN

Hopper (M) HC4513

Age: 10 months
Must be homed with Skippy

Hopper is a curious and friendly young cat who loves to play and is looking for a home he can settle down in.   He loves to follow you around the  house calmly, enjoying a good stroke, with an hour or so of energetic playng throughout the day.

We probably should have called Hopper 'Romeo' and his girlfriend Skippy 'Juliet'.  They came into our care separately and Hopper was paired with Skippy who had spent longer living outside and so was more wary.   So to build her confidence we thought that putting them together would help her and this has worked well.   They love each other and Skippy follows Hopper everywhere.

Hopper and Skippy are neutered and fully vaccinated.  Hopper is the one in the front of the photo.

They would suit a home with enough space for them to retreat for naps and would enjoy a secure garden to explore

We couldn't bear to part them so Hopper and Skippy must be homed together

Please don't apply to adopt them if you are outside our catchment area or don't have access to a garden.

Selkie (F) HC4535

Age: 20 months

Selkie was rescued from an abandoned  car in a car park and moved to a foster home at the beginning of November with her kittens who have all been adopted

Selkie is a sleek, elegant, coal-black young cat.   She is thought to be just over a year old.

She has a calm nature, enjoying being stroked and often responding verbally.  She would make a lovely pet where someone would like a quieter but affectionate cat.

Selkie is fully vaccinated, spayed and micro-chipped.  Probably best suited to a adult only home.

Nutmeg (F) HC4542

Age: 8 months

Nutmeg is a small and shy little black cat, who has adapted well to living in a human household after being born and living the first few weeks of her life outside.   She's a quiet cat, letting out the occasional miaow if she's about to pounce on a fly, or her favourite mouse toy. She's a tentatively curious girl who likes to have company around - she loves to be in a room with her humans - but provided she can keep her distance: she's not keen on sitting on laps, though she'll occasionally consent to being picked up and fussed. Nutmeg would suit an adult home - she's rather skittish around loud noises - where she can have plenty of company during the day.

Nutmeg has been neutered, micro-chipped and vaccinated and is looking for her forever home

Binx (M) HC4544

Age: 16 months

Binx was handed into one of our local vets as a supposed stray.  However he is such a friendly boy we think it was probably their own cat.  He is now in a foster home and this is what his fosterers say about him.

Binx is a handsome fluffy black boy.  He's doing well and we really enjoy his company. He's a very chilled cat and quite lazy. He is clean and well behaved, using the scratcher, the litter tray, etc. He doesn't  "talk" much, and he likes some petting, but does not enjoy being held (unless he is very hungry). He plays a bit, he likes the red laser and catnip hidden in a toy, but when he's had enough  flops on the floor.  He will follow you anytime you visit the kitchen; he thinks he might get some food.

He would probably be best suited to an adult home who wants a well behaved and chilled out cat.

Binx has been neutered, micro-chipped and started his vaccinations

PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF YOU ARE OUTSIDE OUR CATCHMENT AREA OR DON'T HAVE A PRIVATE GARDEN

Celeste (F) HC4546

Age: 7 years

Celeste is a very pretty, characterful, playful, tortoiseshell girl. She is friendly, talkative, and affectionate. She likes to be stroked, to sit on your lap and is happy to be picked up for a cuddle.

Celeste is an active and adventurous cat. She loves walking about, exploring, and seeing what people are up to.

Currently, she is in a settling in period and so is not able to go outside yet, but it’s very clear to us that she enjoys the outdoors and can’t wait to go out again, as she spends so much of her day gazing eagerly out of the windows. So, her new home needs to have access to a private garden.

She is not used to children so will need an adult only home

For more photos and videos please go to her foster mum's Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/RachaelsFosterCats

Celeste has been spayed, micro-chipped and is fully vaccinated.

Missy (F) HC4548

Age: 9 years

Missy is a really pretty, long haired, mature, tabby girl who who was reported to us a stray.  It turned out that Missy left home when her previous owner got a puppy, so we are therefore looking for a new home for her without dogs.

We also think that Missy might prefer to be an only cat.  Certainly she seems to enjoy a home that can provide her with peace and quiet, probably with a single person or couple and no young children.

As she is long haired she is going to need regular brushing to keep fur matting at bay.  Fortunately she really loves the brushing.

Missy has been in her foster home for just a week and is currently practising social distancing.  She says hello to her fosterer in the morning and then goes about her playing business independently.  She is becoming more confident in her new surroundings as each day passes.

She is neuterered, micro-chipped and fully vaccinated

Molly (F) HC4558

Age: 4 years

Four year old Molly is a sweet, friendly and naturally affectionate cat.  She is pretty and agile, bright, communicative and spirited. She enjoys human company and attention but has some difficulty trusting.  Through no fault of her own she has lost homes and has had to fend for herself for much of the time.  She had lived happily in a home for the past year but sadly can no longer tolerate the established other cats.  She desperately needs a loving home that she knows is safe and hers alone so she can learn to trust again.   Molly is currently in a multi-cat foster home, but living separately as she doesn't like the residents!   She has chosen a room and bed for herself and enjoys human company.   She likes to sit on her foster mum's desk and divert her attention and loves to play with toys.   With love, security and patience her sweet nature will flourish and she’ll surely be a wonderful companion.

Molly needs a home where there are no other pets or children.   She is territorial and so we are seeking a home for her where there is a low density of cats in the immediate vicinity.

Buddy (M) HC4568

Age: 13 months

Buddy is a very handsome boy with magnificent white whiskers.   He had been a stray cat for a number of months, and has been fostered following a leg injury which has healed well.  He had a few scars on his head and legs from his time as a stray, but those have long since healed and his fur is lovely.

Buddy is gentle and relaxed in his foster home,   He enjoys sitting in cubby holes, on the sofa with humans, or near to any radiator. He was timid at first but now settled into his foster home he has lots of energy and loves to play with string toys or his catnip-stuffed bug.  He is very friendly, and likes to follow his fosterer from room to room!   He loves attention and is keen to be petted and brushed.

Buddy would be best suited to a home where there is somebody around most of the day as he loves company.    Because he had to fight for territory while living as a stray we think he would now like to live as the only cat in the household where he can have the individual attention he deserves.

Buddy has been neutered and will have started his vaccinations and been micro-chipped before homing.

Cookie (M) HC4576

Age: 3 years

Cookie is a three year old handsome boy with unusual colouring. He is being rehomed as his owners have left the country.

He is an independent cat and quite affectionate but doesn't like to be over-petted so best suited to an adult only home or a family with older children who would be happy to let him do his own thing.

His previous owner says he loves to spend time in the garden so a secure garden will be essential in his new home.  He wouldn't be happy to live in a home with other pets although he can sometimes make friends with others outside.

Cookie has been neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped and is ready for his new home.

Age: 2 years

Brook was handed in as a stray at a local vets and they asked us if we could find him a home.

He's about 2 years old and very friendly although at the moment he gets spooked by sudden movements.  This is hardly surprising considering he's in a strange environment after being on the streets.  We think he would prefer a quieter home without children and will need a safe garden once he's allowed out.
