Cats & kittens

Rehoming list

An up-to-date list of cats and kittens looking for a new home can be found below.

Please consider an older cat as they are often calmer, gentler, loving and more grateful. Black or black and white cats and kittens are nearly always overlooked so please also take this into account. All our cats are vaccinated and neutered as soon as they are old enough. They will also receive flea/worm treatments before going to their new home.

Whisper (F) HC3212

Age: 6 years

This litte female was part of a stray colony and our intention was to neuter and put her back but after a couple of days at the vets they realised she isn't feral just a little timid but friendly so it wouldn't be right to put her back.

The vet nurses called her Whisper as she's very quiet.  She will probably need a quiet adult only home where she can flourish and ideally to be homed with her friend Belle who is in the same foster home.

Whisper has been vaccinated, neutered and micro-chipped.

Myrtle (F) HC3232

Age: 6 years

Myrtle's story
Well we started in our own commune, we had lots of babies and eventually there were too many of us.  That's when HAWS came along and collected us in small groups.  Myrtle (that's me) and Beauty went first and had our kittens, the kittens have all been adopted as they were all cute.  Beauty was adopted and that left me - I was lonely and miserable, one day Nicola who looked after me and my five kittens moved me and  I met up with five of my cousins or they may possibly be my brothers and sister I really can't remember.  One thing about us is we are all shy and nervous but we do love dinner and treat time, at night we move our beds around the room to confuse Nicola in the morning.  We are all black except Mog who is black and white, the rest of us do have little white hidden markings, mine Is on my  tum.  Let me introduce you there is Little one she is small and cute, we have William he is the biggest, Munro who is the middle one and Midge!  Myself and Little One are the ladies the rest are gents!!  I can't tell you how long it took me to get everybody in one place and to make them sit still for a photo !!!

Belle (F) HC3244

Age: 6 years

Tia (F) HC4381

Age: 21 months

Tia came into our care recently due to a change in her owner's circumstances.  She is a sweet and friendly little girl but can be a little shy with people she doesn't know but this will change once she feels secure and settled in her new home.  She is very partial to catnip so  some catnip toys would make her feel at home when she is adopted.

She would be fine for a family with older children say 8 years and above  as she can nip if she get's excited.    She would be equally happy in an adult only home and would like a secure garden to investigate

Tia is neutered, micro-chipped and up to date with her vaccinations.

Mog (F) HC4437

Age: 8 months
Mog is related to Sparkle
Must be homed with Sparkle

Mog and Sparkle were born outside to a feral mother, they have made progress in their foster home. This is what they say about them

Sparkle is very friendly and will sit on the sofa with us.  She is very outgoing and will make a lovely companion.  Mog is very much an independent cat but will follow Sparkle so I think she will be fine, but someone will have to be patient  with her until they have gained her trust.  She won't be picked up but I can touch her.

They are great fun and will be a lovely pair for the right person. Probably best in a quieter adult home.

They are both fully vaccinated and have been micro-chipped and spayed.

MOG AND SPARKLE MUST BE HOMED TOGETHER.

Luna (F) HC4467

Age: 3 years

"My name is Luna and I’m a gorgeous 3 year old girl with a luxuriously soft and thick black coat that you want to pet for days.

As I haven’t had the best of luck with my previous humans I do have trust issues and it takes me a bit of time to settle down in a new place and get used to people. I don’t get on well with other pets or children as they scare me. I really just need my vey own loving and patient hooman who’s willing to give me the time, space and care I need to build up my confidence and trust.

I’ve been with my foster momma for 3 months and although I’m still not confident enough to ask for cuddles I do let her pick me up and pet me for a while cause I know she likes it so much. I kinda like it too but don’t tell her that or she’ll be doing it all the time! I’m a cat after all and have a reputation to maintain!! I’m very independent and adventurous so a kitty door and safe access to outside is essential "

Luna is neutered and up to date with her vaccinatons.  She also has a pet passport as she's been to Spain before.

Coco (F) HC4476

Age: 2 years

Coco is a sweet, loving but slightly anxious mother cat.  This might disappear when she's not with her kittens as she growls at the front door and is very vocal making sure her kittens are where she wants them or expect them to be!  She loves her kittens and plays with them.  She plays a little with humans but defers to the kittens.  She adores having head rubs, is not yet a lap cat but likes to be near her humans, especially if she thinks there is food involved!

For more photos and videos please go to her foster Mum's Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/MissSkimbleshanks/

Coco will be spayed, started her vaccinations and been micro-chipped before homing

Billie (F) HC4483

Age: 6 months
Billie is related to Ella

Billie's birthday is the 9th of July 2020. Billie is the sister of Ella.

Billie or Billie Boom, Billie The Bulldozer - She is something else! A confident little tigress, she is fearless. She jumps, climbs, rolls, explores, terrorises! She is a delight to watch and to play with. She has a lot of energy, so definitely needs to be adopted by humans who will put the time in to play with her a lot! With her black and white fur, her fluffy face and white, springy whiskers and eyebrows, she is simply adorable!

Like her sister Ella, Billie was very shy and not used to humans when she arrived at our foster home about two months ago. As a result, she was quite scared of us. But she has improved so much, she is becoming a real snuggle monster and a proper purr machine! She now sleeps on foster mum's bed, she comes when you call her (with a little whistle), she comes to look what you're doing. She jumps up onto the sofa and demands a proper fuss, accompanied by loud purring. You can pick her up very briefly if she is about to roll off your lap to move her to a more secure position!!! She could be in a home with slightly older children, who will give her loads of love and cuddles, but understand that it needs to be on her terms and let her make the first moves.

She has the loudest purr, sings at the birds outside and will make the most wonderful little companion!

You will find the most up to date pictures and videos of Billie on the Foster Cottage's Facebook page. Photos here and videos here.

Billie would like to be adopted with her sister Ella. Billie has been microchipped and has had her first set of vaccines. She will need to be neutered around January 2021.

Ella (F) HC4484

Age: 6 months
Ella is related to Billie

Ella was born on the 9th of July 2020. Ella is Billie's sister.  Our Ella Bella has come so far! Originally the shy one, she was actually the first of the two kittens to come for a fuss and a cuddle. Especially in bed (she will need a family who like having a feline bed mate or two!), she likes to snuggle up and burrows under the duvet, especially now that it is getting colder!  She climbs to the tops of the scratch posts and performs acrobatics on the clothes racks. She likes to play with us, chasing things, likes strings and ribbons and oooooohhh does she love the Christmas tree and the (plastic, luckily kitten proof) baubles. Most of our baubles are no longer on the tree, but she is too cute and funny chasing them around the room to get upset. Little Ella Enchanted provides us with hours of entertainment.

Ella has a beautiful black coat, which is shiny and super soft. When she is lying in the sunshine, you can see her hidden stripes, very striking!

There are still elements of shyness in her, although we are certain she is only going to become more and more confident. You can't pick her up - let her come to you, she will! She loves napping high up, so a little bed on top of a shelf would be perfect. She also loves napping on top of the radiator, roasting cat! She then gets too hot and wobbles over, all sleepy, to a human's lap. Usually purring loudly. If you are sitting quietly, reading or working at your computer, she will come be with you. She is lying next to me as I am typing this.

Ella would not do well in a house with very young children, she's looking for older kids (depending on the child, maybe 8 years and older), who understand how to be gentle and very quiet, or otherwise a grown-ups only household. She loves being played with, though, so make sure you're ready for some feline play time! Ella needs humans who will love her, fuss over her, but also give her the time and space she needs and have the patience to let her come to you instead. Someone who understands what to expect from a sweet, shy kitten.

Up to date videos and photos of Ella can be found on our Foster Cottage Facebook page, do check them out! Photos here and videos here.

Ella would like to be adopted with her sister Billie. Ella has been microchipped and has had her first set of vaccines. She will need to be neutered around January 2021.

Skippy (F) HC4486

Age: 10 months

We probably should have called Skippy Juliet and her boyfriend Hopper Romeo.  They came into our care separately and Skippy had been living outside longer than Hopper  Hopper was the most confident and because Skippy was very timid we thought that putting them together would help her.   This has worked well and Skippy loves to play with Oscar and can match his energy. They love each other and Skippy follows Hopper everywhere.  Skippy still remains a litte wary of humans (unless food is involved) but her confidence has increased dramatically in foster care.

We couldn't bear to part them so Skippy and Hopper must be homed together.  Skippy is the one at the back of the photo.

Skippy is fully vaccinated and micro-chipped

Skippy and Hoper would suit a home with enough space for them to retreat to for naps and would enjoy a secure garden to explore and play in.

Please don't apply to adopt them if you are outside our catchment area or don't have access to a garden

Layla (F) HC4488

Age: 2 years

Layla is a very dedicated, loving mother of five kittens, but is ready to adopt her permanent family. She is very friendly, loves attention and cuddles, and will be a lap cat in just a few weeks. She would love to have someone home most of the day to keep her company.  She would be fine for a family with calm children 8 years and over.

PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF YOU ARE OUTSIDE OUR CATCHMENT AREA OR DON’T HAVE A PRIVATE GARDEN

She will be neutered, chipped and vaccinated before she goes to her new home.

Carlotta (F) HC4498

Age: 22 months

Carlotta or Lottie as her fosterer calls her  is a young long haired female cat. She is very shy and scares easily, but once she knows you she is very, very friendly. She likes to play, she likes to perch herself on high shelves, and she likes to survey her domain though the window. Not so keen on actually going out at the moment because it's cold, wet, windy, and those crows and gulls turn out to be much larger up close

Grooming her is a full time job, but you will be rewarded with a first-class coat, smooth, soft and silky.

She will fare better as the sole pet of a household without children. She can, and will go outside, although that is just running the risk of getting her superb coat dirty. She is quite happy indoors for now but a nice secure little garden to explore in better weather would make her very happy.

Lottie is a little camera shy but she has a pretty face and a very impressive fluffy tail.

She has been spayed and micro-chipped.

Joan Jet (F) HC4510

Age: 6 months
Joan Jet is related to LesleyDelilah

Joan Jett is a bit timid.  She looks at you as if she wants to be friends but isn't quite ready.  She will let you stroke her and pick her up, but only when she is feeling relaxed.  She would be better with experienced cat owners as she will require a little patience.   She gets on with the other cats so wouild make a nice companion for a resident cat who wants a new friend.

Joan Jett is fully vaccinated and microchipped.

Update from foster home:- Joan Jet is gentle and sweet.  She’s quietly confident and affectionate, but has a sense of adventure.  She would suit any household and would be a nice companion for a resident cat who wants a new friend.

PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF YOU ARE OUTSIDE OUR CATCHMENT AREA OR DON'T HAVE A GARDEN

Lesley (F) HC4511

Age: 6 months
Lesley is related to Joan JetDelilah

Lesley's a tiny bundle of energy.   She's very friendly and has a loud purr.  She is happy being  stroked and picked up and will cuddle up with you on the sofa.  She loves watching TV and enjoys playing with her toys.

Lesley is fully vaccinated and microchipped.

Update from foster home:  Lesley is playful and affectionate.  She loves a cuddle and has a very loud purr.  She enjoys playing with her toys and likes other cats.  She would suit any household and should be homed with her sister Delilah.

PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF YOU ARE OUTSIDE OUR CATCHMENT AREA OR DON'T HAVE A GARDEN

Delilah (F) HC4512

Age: 6 months
Delilah is related to Joan JetLesley

Delilah looks fierce and feisty!  She is not quite as friendly as her sister Lesley yet, but she will allow you to stroke her and pick her up when she feels like it   She also enjoys playing with her toys, and particularly likes the other cats in the house.

Delilah is fully vaccinated and microchipped.

Update from foster home:- Delilah is confident and adventurous.  She enjoys exploring, playing with her toys, and hanging out with the other cats.  She would suit any household and should be homed with her black sister Lesley.

PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF YOUR ARE OUTSIDE OUR CATCHMENT AREA OR DON'T HAVE A GARDEN

Hopper (M) HC4513

Age: 7 months

Hopper is a curious and friendly young cat who oves to play and is looking for a home he can settle down in.   He loves to follow you around the  house calmly, enjoying a good stroke, with an hour or so of energetic playng throughout the day.

We probably should have called Hopper 'Romeo' and his girlfriend Skippy 'Juliet'.  They came into our care separately and  Hopper was paired with Skippy who had spent longer living outside and so was more wary.   So to build her confidence we thought that putting them together would help her and this has worked well.   They love each other and Skippy follows Hopper everywhere.

Hopper and Skippy are neutered and fully vaccinated.  Hopper is the one in the front of the photo.

They would suit a home with enough space for them to retreat for naps and would enjoy a secure garden to explore

We couldn't bear to part them so Hopper and Skippy must be homed together

Please don't apply to adopt them if you are outside our catchment area or don't have access to a garden.

Chino (F) HC4515

Age: 22 weeks

Chino is an outgoing kitten who loves to play and be with her friends.  She will make a lovely addition to any family.

They may be a little shy on first meeteing as due to lockdown they have only seen 2 humans since October.

She has started her vaccnations and been micro-chipped.

Chino should be adopted with her sister Plum

PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF YOU ARE OUTSIDE OF OUR CATCHMENT AREA OR DON'T HAVE A PRIVATE GARDEN

Bookcase (F) HC4517

Age: 22 weeks
Bookcase is related to Sands

Bookcase, her Mum and her siblings came into us at 6 weeks from a feral colony, however the kittens were very timid due to a lack of socialisation until 6 weeks and their Mum, Paisley, is nervous.  However, Bookcase was the most approachable and took to sleeping in the bookcase, hence her name, and her foster Mum was able to touch her first.

Bookcase is a classic tabby and after a couple of weeks, slowly came around to liking attention and now sleeps on her foster mum and seeks out a fuss. She is still a bit jumpy.  She plays, chases her brother all over the flat, adores chicken thrive treats and thinks the best toys are the ones she shouldn't be playing with!

Bookcase must be adopted with her brother Sands as he does look to her for confidence of being touched by humans.  She needs a quiet adult onlu who will spend a lot of time playing and bonding with her.  Bookcase is chipped, vaccinated and will be neutered soon.   She will need access to a garden when she is able to go out.

For more photos and videos please go to her foster Mum's Facebook page
 https://www.facebook.com/MissSkimbleshanks/

Sands (M) HC4518

Age: 22 weeks
Sands is related to Bookcase

Sands, his Mum and siblings came into us at 6 weeks from a feral colony.  Sands has taken until 21 weeks to accept a touch from a human - you have to kneel by the bed when he's been snoozing and he will accept strokes and even roll on his back.  His foster mum woke up to find him sleeping on her one morning which was most unexpected!

Sands is a beautiful slightly silver mackerel tabby and the spitting image of his Mum, Paisley.  He loves to be chased by his sister Bookcase, loves his ball toys but preferably with his Mum playing too and is very inquisitive - he may not trust touch too much but he is always there watching what humans are doing.  He's also obsessed with the television!!

Sands needs to be adopted with Bookcase as it is felt his confidence will continue to grow seeing her accept love from humans.  He needs a quiet adult only home home  who will spend a lot of time playing and bonding with him.  Sands is vaccinated, chipped and will soon be neutered. He will need a home with a garden.

For more photos and videos please go to her foster Mum's Facebook page

Plumb (F) HC4521

Age: 21 weeks

Plumb is a lovely chunky kitten who is outgoing and loves being around people.  She loves playing and exploring.  She will fit in with any household and would like to be homed with Chino

They may be a little shy on first meeteing as due to lockdown they have only seen 2 humans since October.

She has started her vaccnations and been micro-chipped.

PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF YOU ARE OUTSIDE OUR CATCHMENT AREA OR DON'T HAVE A PRIVATE GARDEN

Lily (F) HC4533

Age: 19 months

Lily is a very elegant glossy lady and has been a good mum to her kittens who have all been adopted. She has the loudest purr and lives for fuss and dreamies. Lily is very affectionate, loves to give head nudges and is fond of a tummy rub. She has a secret white patch that she likes to show off.

She is very playful and loves her sardine toys and catnip ball. She loves to play at night, chatting to ghosts and making the cutest battle cries. She’s a very busy lady!

She’s a bit shy to start (before she comes out of her shell) but she makes up for it with fuss and attention after.

Lily will be neutered, started her vaccinations and been micro-chipped before homing.

She will need a home with a private garden

Selkie (F) HC4535

Age: 17 months

This young family were rescued from an abandoned  car in a car park and moved to a foster home at the beginning of November.

Selkie is a sleek, elegant, coal-black young mother of two kittens.  She is thought to be just over a year old and the kittens were estimated to have been born around the beginning of October. Since they have been in their foster home they have settled in, gradually relaxing and coming out of their shells.

Selkie is a very attentive mother to her kittens Archie and Isla.  She has a calm nature, enjoying being stroked and often responding verbally.  She would make a lovely pet where someone would like a quieter but affectionate cat.

Archie is a black and white cutie, the smaller of the two kittens, very energetic, inquisitive and playful.  He is aided in his escapades by his sibling, Isla, whose colouring is black and smoky brown.  She also participates in and enjoys the pranks while having a softer, quieter manner.   You can see more of Archie and Isla in the under 6 months section on the website.

These three gorgeous cats would make a wonderful trio of lovely pets, but Archie and Isla are constant companions and playmates and would be ideally homed as a pair.

Selkie is fully vaccinated, spayed and micro-chipped.  Probably best suited to a adult only home.

Onyx (M) HC4538

Age: 6 months

This little boy was part of a colony we were dealing with.  Originally we thought he was too wild to be homed and would have to be neutered and returned hence his ear tip but it turned out he was just timid and needed a bit of time.  This is what his fosterer says about him.

Named after the precious stone of happiness, good fortune and strength, this friendly little guy's energy is contagious.

Shy at first, Onyx comes out of his shell after a couple of days. In fact, all it takes to get his attention nowadays, is to simply hold out your hand and he comes running over, headbutting your hand, guiding it around his head. This is always followed by the loudest puuuuuurr everrrrrrr.

Onyx loves cheek and chin rubs, head massages and belly tickles. He also loves playing hide and seek and chasing after paper/tin foil on a string - he will do backflips just to catch these. And whilst he is adventurous and independent, he also enjoys cuddling, snuggling into your lap or laying next to you throughout the day.

He will need access to a secure garden once he is able to venture outside.  Probably best for an adult only home

Onyx is neutered, fully vaccinated and micro-chipped

PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF YOU ARE OUTSIDE OUR CATCHMENT AREA OR DON'T HAVE A GARDEN

Buddy (M) HC4541

Age: 16 months

Before coming to live with us, his foster parents, Buddy was part of a stray colony which the charity help looks after. One day, while trying to capture a female cat for spaying, they caught him instead. This is where the path of his life changed.  The charity took him to the vets to check him over and neuter him  before releasing him. While at the vets they discovered that not only was he  a very sociable little boy he had a bad umbilical hernia which needed urgent repair  so the decision was made not to return him to the colony, but to put him up for adoption.

We don’t know if he has ever lived in a domesticated environment, but it’s clear that he loves people and is happy to make friends with any person that wants to fuss him. He came to us without a name, but it became clear within the first few days at home that he needed a name appropriate for his character. He’s the cat who wants to be everyone’s Buddy.

He has settled into his domesticated life well. Within two weeks he already has a chair in the lounge where he likes to spend most of the day being near to us. This way, he can be ready for passing strokes and know when someone might be heading off towards his food bowl should he fancy a few of his kibbles. He loves to be stroked and will usually give you an “I want more” look if you finish before he wants you to.  He likes to rest against you on the sofa while you stroke him, or he will rest against your foot as a substitute. He likes to play with a small mouse toy and loves watching cat TV.

Buddy would suit a home with a single person, a couple, or a family with older children.
He has been vaccinated, neutered and micro-chipped.

Binx (M) HC4544

Age: 13 months

Binx was handed into one of our local vets as a supposed stray.  However he is such a friendly boy we think it was probably their own cat.  He is now in a foster home and this is what his fosterers say about him.

Binx is a handsome fluffy black boy.  He's doing well and we really enjoy his company. He's a very chilled cat and quite lazy. He is clean and well behaved, using the scratcher, the litter tray, etc. He doesn't  "talk" much, and he likes some petting, but does not enjoy being held (unless he is very hungry). He plays a bit, he likes the red laser and catnip hidden in a toy, but when he's had enough  flops on the floor.  He will follow you anytime you visit the kitchen; he thinks he might get some food.

He would probably be best suited to an adult home who wants a well behaved and chilled out cat.

Binx has been neutered, micro-chipped and started his vaccinations

Elvira (F) HC4545

Age: 6 years
Elvira is related to Celeste

Elvira was handed into our care with her sister Celeste as the owners were going into a care home.  They are not used to children so would need an adult only home with access to a private garden once they are allowed out.   Although they lived together they are not a bonded pair so can be homed separately.  Elvira is a friendly girl but may be a little shy when she first moves to a new home.

Elvira has been spayed, micro-chipped and has started her vaccinations.

Celeste (F) HC4546

Age: 6 years
Celeste is related to Elvira

Celeste is a very pretty tortoishell and was handed into our care with her sister Elvira as the owners were going into a care home.  They are not used to children so would need an adult only home with access to a private garden once they are allowed out.   Although they lived together they are not a bonded pair so can be homed separately.  Celeste is a typical tortie who likes attention when she wants it but also likes her own space and she certainly has looks in her favour.  She is a friendly girl but may be a little shy when she first moves to a new home.

Celeste has been spayed, micro-chipped and has started her vaccinations.
