It has come to our notice that a very small number of people with insufficient security on their PC's may have been infected with a virus causing bogus Popup windows to appear in front of the payment page of some shopping carts (which then 'fish' for confidential information if you type into them). To ensure that you are not caught out by these bogus Popup windows, please remember:

(1) NEVER enter card details into a Popup window. Only ever enter them into the body of the secure payment page that opens (except, if you have registered for Verified By Visa or Secure Code programs with Visa / MasterCard, when you will be prompted for ONLY a security password, in a small popup window - this is valid).
(2) NEVER enter your 4-digit ATM PIN number into any web page - no genuine shopping cart will ever ask for your PIN number!
(3) ALWAYS make sure that when you have clicked Proceed to Payment you can see the secure padlock symbol either in the header or footer bar of the payment page that opens. The secure page will also begin https:// with the 's' meaning secure.

We should point out that we have had NO reports of this happening to any users of this Hounslow Animal Welfare Society facility - this is a general web-wide precaution and applies to all shopping carts on all websites. Hope this information helps you to be web-wise and shop safely online.
