For reasons which are a bit of a mystery to us, supermarkets appear to be less and less interested in allowing charities such as ours to carry out animal food collections at their branches.

In the past we have held very successful collections at a variety of shops within our area. Many customers have seemed to prefer these events to the more usual 'money in the box' in the box collections as they feel that they are helping the homeless animals in a more direct fashion. One would have thought that the shops would also prefer this as their sales increase. On several occasions it was noticed that shelves were almost cleared of animal food stocks by the end of the day.

Nevertheless it is becoming increasingly difficult to arrange these events and our FOOD DONATION SCHEME is therefore even more important as a means of keeping down our expenditure on food stuffs.
